BIO
Patrice
is the Founder and CEO of My Love For Autism, Inc., a group dedicated to
Autism Advocacy. She is a single mother of two, Thai-Lee and Ayden-Lee.
Patrice
gave birth to Thai in 2005 at the age of 22. Thai-Lee did not speak until age 5.
Patrice took him to a doctor where he was diagnosed with Autism at the age of
5. At the time, Patrice was 6 months pregnant with her second child, Ayden-Lee.
After finding out about Thai’s Autism, Patrice was devastated and felt
helpless. She then began to educate herself about the disorder and researched
ways to help her son live with Autism. Through Patrice’s research she was able
to embrace and accept her son’s Autism.
With her persistence and
the help of his teacher, family and professionals, Thai-Lee has gained more
ground than anyone would have thought possible from that original diagnosis! He is now in the 2nd grade,
reading, writing, etc. Due to his raw
knowledge of computer science, after completing the 1st grade,
Thai-Lee received a scholarship to attend a private school of his parent
choice.
Patrice
founded My Love For Autism because she wants to serve as an advocate for Autism
awareness. My Love For Autism goal is to establish at least two
occupational therapy centers. These centers will provide
autistic children and their families with an affordable way to cope with the
challenges that accompany this disorder.
Additionally,
Patrice hopes that through My Love For Autism she can establish yearly walks
and fundraisers. Finally, Patrice wants My Love For
Autism to act as a support group; parents and families living with Autism can
connect and provide encouragement for each other.
